This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D2061000 and is part of the HI OTSS, National Guard.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish work in the area of personnel medical readiness management and reporting.
- Serves as the subject matter expert on Individual Medical Readiness (IMR).
- Generates medical management information reports for the Battalion/Squadron and staff.
- Develops and provides regular/recurring IMR reports to subordinate units to support the scheduling of annual medical readiness requirements.
- Reviews, validates, and forwards requests for temporary and/or permanent medical actions to include profile determination and medical boards (e.g. fitness for duty evaluation (FFDE), military occupational skills/medical retention board (MMRB), medical evaluation board/physical evaluation board (MEB/PEB)).
- Monitors the execution of all medical readiness events (military and civilian) to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations and that required documentation is submitted to facilitate payment.
- Monitors the posting of updated information derived from annual and recurring medical requirements (e.g. periodic health assessments (PHA), required immunizations, dental exams, physicals exams, profiling requirements) and other directed medical readiness requirements.
- Is the subject matter expert for continuing education/certification requirements for enlisted medical personnel and combat lifesavers.

- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience involved in performing or assisting with a varied range of health or bioenvironmental activities. Experience interpreting various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.

k. This type of appointment is expected to extend beyond one year. Separation will be preceded by a 30-day notice when services are no longer needed. Permanent technicians will remain on permanent status if selected.

m. Candidates above the grade of E6 must include in their application the willingness to take a voluntary downgrade in order to be considered.
n. Eligibles on this list will be given automatic consideration for position vacancies occurring during the six months period following the close of this announcement.
o. Cost of living allowances (COLA) vary from island to island. COLA is subject to change without notice.
p. For HIARNG: Selectee may be scheduled for formal training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within the first six months of employment. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, failure to complete National Guard Bureau prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment, may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of employment.
q. For enlisted personnel: If the selected candidate does not hold a compatible MOS, and/or is not MOS qualified in a compatible MOS, he/she must be willing to take a reduction in military rank in order to transfer into an entry level MOS to become compatible.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience -Completion of a one full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of fulltime study at the school attended.
