Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
The Director of Patient Care has oversight responsibility for all Patient Care services in the organization. These include those at the inpatient facility, partial hospitalization program sites, and clinics. The Director of Patient Care also holds line responsibility for Infection Control, Clinical Nutrition, and Call Center . The Director of Patient Care serves as clinical liaison with laboratory, radiology, and emergency medical services contracted by the organization. As a member of senior management, the Director of Patient Care participates in strategic planning and implementation of the organization’s mission.
Master’s degree in Nursing or related field is preferred. Experience may be considered as substitute for advanced degree. Current Hawaii RN License required.
Prior experience in a management position is required, demonstrating effective management skills, knowledge of healthcare organizations and administration, agency standards, Joint Commission and licensing requirements, and compliance with applicable laws. Must have proven ability to develop and manage department personnel and budgets.
Health care operations and administration knowledge; working knowledge of finance, planning, marketing, human resources management; knowledge of regulations affecting health care delivery.
Must have excellent written, verbal presentation, and interpersonal skills. Must have well-developed problem identification, conflict resolution, analytical, persuasion and negotiation skills. Must exhibit leadership skills, and the ability to initiate and maintain clear communication. Must be flexible and adapt to constantly changing situations. Must have demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects.
Must meet basic health requirements of Kahi Mohala physical examination, including TB skin test or chest x-ray. Must be able to continuously move throughout the facility walking. Possess sight/hearing sense, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to meet the requirements of the job. Must obtain and maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, and hospital approved management of aggressive behavior training.
